To best setup boot from cd and choose to install win xp sp3 on a clean partition , don't install it at old system of windows as follow.
After each update Microsoft will come pack the old style of xp so you can fix it
( Icons , logon , boot screen) by open these files CDI386 or C386 or N386 or x386Ntoskrnl.ex_ , Shell32.dl_ , Logonui.ex_ by winrar and extract it to system folder c:windowssystem32 but you must rename the files first to shell32.exe.back first then extract it and restart computer.
Now you can Run Unattended Setup from cd
To install the programs you wanted after installation of winxp
